About Renshi Ginter

Renshi Doug Ginter began training under Dr. June Pilcher (now Renshi Dr. June Pilcher) in 1993 while attending Bradley University as a graduate student in psychology. I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to train with the founder of Karatedo Doshinkan, Hanshi 10 Dan Isao Ichikawa. I trained with the late Hanshi in Columbus (OH), Chicago (IL), Peoria (IL), Nashville (TN), and Seattle (WA).

In 1996, I had the pleasure of training with Hanshi 10 Dan N. Ichikawa in a week long training on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Later that year I was promoted to Shodan (1st degree black belt) while attending trainings in the San Francisco Bay area. Since that time, I have trained with Hanshi in Priest River (ID), Seattle (WA), Boise (ID), Peoria (IL), St. Louis (MO), and Newport (OR). I was awarded the title of Renshi in September of 2005 at the Oregon beach training in Newport.

I met my wife, Lynn, in 1993. We married in 1995. We briefly lived in Seattle from 1996-2000 before returning to Illinois. Our son Logan was born in 2000, and our daughter Erin was born in 2003. My wife is currently a sales engineer and I'm a stay-at-home dad. We homeschool our children and enjoy traveling. (even when it doesn't involve attending Doshinkan events :)
